Methodist Dallas Awarded Certification from The Joint Commission for Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Programs

Methodist Dallas Medical Center has earned full certification and The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its hip and knee joint replacement programs by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The certification award recognizes Methodist Dallas’ dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
This designation further demonstrates the commitment of Methodist Dallas to quality outcomes for its patients and the highest levels of patient satisfaction that were part of the foundation of establishing The Methodist Joint Academy at the hospital, a program specializing in joint replacements that includes a spectrum of preparation, orientation, treatment options, and follow-up care.
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations. Earning this accreditation and Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval recognizes the hospital’s commitment to health care quality and safety.
Methodist Dallas underwent a rigorous on-site survey with a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluating the hospital’s hip and knee joint replacement programs for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program, launched in 2002, is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with consensus-based national standards; effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
