15 Methodist Health System Nurses Honored for D Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing Awards

Fifteen Methodist Health System nurses were honored in D Magazine’s inaugural Nursing in Excellence Awards program including awardees Cherie James, RN BSN, ONC, from Methodist Charlton who won the Orthopedics Excellence in Nursing Award, and Methodist Mansfield’s Tonya Pena, RN-BC, who won the General Medicine Excellence in Nursing Award. Thirteen other Methodist nurses were finalists among the 86 who were nominated by a colleague and chosen in partnership with the Texas Health Council and registered nurses regarding how they impact lives, the nursing profession, and their community.

“All of these extraordinary nurses are role models for Methodist and are admired for their leadership and clinical expertise,” Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Pamela Stoyanoff says. “They extend that same compassionate care and dedication to serve and care for others in our communities and are well deserving of being named as winners and finalists for this recognition.”

The 13 Methodist Health System nurse finalists honored at the publication’s ceremony were Cardiology: Stacey Jantzen, RN, BSN, Methodist Mansfield; Intensive Care: Tim Taylor, RN, BSN, Methodist Mansfield; Internal Medicine: Ulondia Lee, RN, MSN, Methodist Mansfield; Leadership: Jeanne Reeves, BSN, MS, RN, Methodist Mansfield; Neonatal: Amanda Truelove, RNC-OB, BSN, Methodist Mansfield; Neurosciences: Teresa Jones, RN, Methodist Mansfield; Nursing Administration: Christopher Fowler, PhD, MBA, RN, Methodist Dallas; Karla Ramberger, RN, BSN, Methodist Dallas; and Irene Strejc, RN, BSN, MPH, Methodist Richardson; Orthopedics: Melissa Garrison, RN-ONC, BSN, Methodist Mansfield; Psychiatry: David Andrews, RN, BSN, Methodist Mansfield; Women’s Health: Vicki Wiseman, RNC-OB, BSN, MBA, Methodist Mansfield; and Lynda Darlene Howl, RNC, WHCNP-BC, NCC, Methodist Dallas Golden Cross Academic Clinic.
