Methodist Charlton Kicks-Off Heart of the Community Challenge

Recently, approximately 100 families from the Best Southwest community in southern Dallas County took their first steps to a healthier life, and Methodist Charlton took another step in helping to improve the health of the community it serves.

The families were chosen to participate in Methodist Charlton’s Heart of the Community Challenge program. The program promotes heart disease education and prevention during a free 16-week program that encourages the entire family to have fun while improving their overall health.

The hospital Auditorium was buzzing with activity during the kick-off with the audience participating in exercises and dancing, a cooking demo, physician tips, free health screenings, and prize giveaways. Biweekly in-person sessions will include healthy eating tips, cooking and fitness demonstrations, physician speakers, and prizes.

The event was covered by Fox 4 News at 6 and 9 p.m. that day.
