Annaton Nesty is a respiratory therapist at Methodist Charlton Medical Center. Annaton’s goal is to reflect on the outside who she really is on the inside. And she’s ready to go for it!

1. How are you feeling now? Why do you want to become healthier?

I find myself hiding from the things that used to bring me joy simply because I am no longer myself — or, at least my best self. I enjoy working out and meeting new people, but now, instead of presenting myself as a confident, successful woman, I shy away.

2. What are your goals to become healthier?

I want to be an example for my patients, family, co-workers, and friends. How can I tell an overweight patient about the benefits of losing weight when I am not setting a good example? I’m tired of the do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do mantra. I would much rather say, “If I can do it, so can you!”

3. What do you need from your co-workers, team members, friends, and family to help you achieve your goals?

Support and positive reinforcement are always nice; however, if it becomes a team effort, then it’s just more fun! So come on, team! Let’s do it.

4. What is the hardest change in lifestyle that you expect to experience?

I’m a stress eater and work in a high-stress job.

5. When you reach your wellness goals, it will all be worth it because:

I will reflect on the outside who I am as a person on the inside.
