Sharina is an education specialist in Nursing Administration at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Because Sharina has a family history of heart disease, she’s ready to take on the challenge of living a heart-healthy lifestyle.

1. How are you feeling now? Why do you want to become healthier?

I feel good, but I know I have the potential to feel GREAT! I not only want to become healthier, I NEED to become healthier. Heart disease is no stranger to my family. It is up to me to change my habits so that I can break the cycle.

2. What are your goals to become healthier?

My goals to become healthier include eating healthier, incorporating more physical activity into my daily schedule, and lowering my cholesterol levels. These are all obtainable goals, and I am so excited to begin my journey to reach each goal.

3. What do you need from your co-workers, team members, friends, and family to help you achieve your goals?

I need everyone to hold me accountable. If I’m making unhealthy decisions, tell me to STOP! I won’t be upset … well, I probably will be upset if it is my first sip of a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks, but I’ll get over it. J I need them to be my support system. It also won’t hurt if they join me in my new journey.

4. What is the hardest change in lifestyle that you expect to experience?

I love french fries, but they don’t love me. And I am slightly addicted to reality TV. The hardest changes will be trading my unhealthy eating habits and my love for television for some awesome salads (easy on the dressing) and gym time.

5. When you reach your wellness goals, it will all be worth it because:

I will be a healthier and happier me. I know this program will provide me with the necessary tools to change my lifestyle. That will put me one step closer to accomplishing my goals to be a healthier me!
