by Jodi Palmer

Jodi is a patient care technician at Methodist Charlton Medical Center. Her goal is to get in shape so she can live longer and look good.

1. Congratulations on reaching month three of I am Methodist Health. What has been your biggest hurdle to overcome?

My biggest hurdle has been learning how to stay focused on my long-term goals. That means I’m learning to be realistic with what I will and won’t do in my future exercise and eating plans.

2. What Methodist resources are you using to help you make these changes?

I am using our health coach, Beth Leermakers, and the gym at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.

3. What progress have you made this month?

I've been able to track my meals consistently, stay within my limits, and not worry about what the scale says.

4. What advice do you give your co-workers to help motivate them to make healthy lifestyle changes?

When it comes to living healthy, you are your biggest challenge. Once you realize that, you can conquer anything.

In February, my biggest sense of accomplishment came when I realized I had not hit a weight-loss plateau.
