Methodist Health System Hospitals Earn ‘Top Performers’ Status

11/13/13

All Four Methodist Facilities Recognized by The Joint Commission

Four Methodist Health System hospitals have all been named among the Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission (TJC) for achieving exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. The commended clinical categories for each hospital are as follows:

  • Methodist Dallas Medical Center: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and stroke
  • Methodist Charlton Medical Center: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and stroke
  • Methodist Mansfield Medical Center: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and stroke]
  • Methodist Richardson Medical Center: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care

To be recognized as one the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures®, a hospital must achieve a performance grade of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability measures for which data is reported to TJC, an independent, not-for-profit organization whose accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide. Methodist Dallas, Methodist Charlton, Methodist Mansfield, and Methodist Richardson met or exceeded the 95 percent performance target for each accountability measure for data in 2012.

“This recognition is an affirmation of the Methodist mission: To improve and save lives through compassionate quality health care,” says Pamela Stoyanoff, chief operating officer of Methodist Health System. “While we are certainly proud of this achievement, our greatest reward is the lives we save and restore though our quality care.”

The Top Performers on Key Quality Measures program is designed to be an incentive for achieving excellence on accountability measures and to support organizations in their performance improvement efforts. Methodist’s four hospitals are among 1,099 in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures.

Methodist’s four recognized hospitals are listed on the TJC website and will be featured in its December issue of The Source.
