Three Methodist Health System Hospitals Earn ‘A’ Grades for Patient Safety in Leapfrog’s Spring 2018 Hospital Safety Score
Methodist Dallas, Methodist Mansfield, and Methodist Richardson are all proud to announce they have received the highest rating possible by the independent hospital watchdog The Leapfrog Group. The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system. Only 750 hospitals nationwide were awarded an ‘A’ for its efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.
“Methodist Health System is honored that three of our campuses earned top ratings. The high scores are a powerful reminder of our commitment to saving and improving lives,” says Stephen L. Mansfield, Ph.D., FACHE, president and CEO of Methodist Health System. “We take these safety measures very seriously. We’re proud to serve our communities and be recognized as a healthcare leader.”
Methodist Charlton Medical Center also earned the high safety score of B, missing the A mark by a fraction of one point.
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
