Accountable Care Organization
Methodist Health System was the first in North Texas to participate as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, initiated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).
As a pioneer ACO, we lowered readmission rates, reduced needless emergency room visits, decreased avoidable hospitalizations, and achieved $12.7 million in savings in the first year alone. In fact, we were the only area ACO to achieve cost savings. So when it comes to lowering costs and improving patient’s lives, we’re proud to be accountable for that.
